She is survived by her daughter Patricia (Joe) Guerra, of Rialto, CA; her son Mark (Susan), of San Diego, CA; five grandchildren, Cynthia Guerra Schlichtemeier, Evan Guerra, Anthony Guerra, Branden Robbins, Daniel Robbins, and eight great-grandchildren.
Born in Hillsboro, IL, the oldest of six children, she graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1940, married Robert in 1942, and following the end of World War II they moved to California in 1946, settling in Bloomington in 1949.
She worked many years as a school secretary and librarian for the Bloomington School District, and as a bookkeeper at First Lutheran Preschool in Fontana. She was a member of the Junior Women's Club, American Legion Auxiliary, PTA, Book Club and Friends of the Library, all of Bloomington. She was a member of Rialto Woman's Club and Nostalgia Singers, and a 60-year member at Grace Lutheran Church in Rialto, where she served on the Altar Guild and published the weekly bulletins and monthly newsletter.
She enjoyed travel, had been to every U.S. state, many Canadian provinces and Mexican states, and several Caribbean countries, and could recall every detail of those trips.
A viewing and remembrance celebration will take place Monday, July 8 from 5:00-7:00pm at Green Acres Memorial Park, Bloomington. The graveside service will be Tuesday, July 9 at 10:00am at Green Acres, and a Life Celebration service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 539 N. Acacia, Rialto, CA 92376, at 11:30am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Virginia's name to Grace Lutheran Church at that address.
