To my Nina Ramona,
I will always remember the good times, the weddings, the family reunions,  the celebrations.  Going back and forth between the two homes on Mount Vernon, with aunt Cecilia and Tio Jesus. I will never forget you, your humor, your kindness, your love. I'm sure you are happy now being with Larry, give him my regards. Say hi to my mom too.

My aunt Mona shared a lot of stories about her adventures and travels through the years in my adult life. But as kids growing up it was an amazing adventure at Auntie Monas and Uncle Larry’s house. We had wonderful Christmas and holiday gatherings, even if we were being scolded for being bad and when Uncle Larry would threaten us to throw us in his tool shed. My best memories are when auntie and I would sit at her little table in the kitchen and talk. I would be there at her house to fix something or just to visit. We would talk for a couple of hours at that table in front of the refrigerator and next to the washing machine as I felt the breeze from the glass shutters behind me. We would talk about everything as I would get up and reach for another drink out of the fridge next to me. I would also tell her about all the memories I had about helping auntie and uncle deliver their tamales to the Colton Auction. Those are the moments I miss most about being with auntie and of course her tamales and cooking. She would help me as I stayed at their house when I was laid up with a broken leg, she would take care me as I honestly appreciated everything she has done.  Auntie……I will love you forever and miss you for the rest of my life, you will always be in my heart Auntie.

Auntie Mona, 

Thank you so much for everything you have done for David and I.  You were very kind to take care of David when he broke his leg while I worked.  You also were always so welcoming and loving when we would visit.  You also shared some of your wonderful life stories with me especially around you and Larry's early days.  We were also partners when I would sell weekly your many dozens of tamales and burritos to  the bank employees.  They loved it.  But most of all, thank you for loving me and the wonderful opportunity to love you.  Give a big hug  to my wonderful mother in law Rita.   Until we meet again. 

Grandma, I'm so grateful for all of the memories we share. 

I remember getting to know you and Grandpa when Kurt and I came to spend the summer with you. It was my first time flying and going on a trip alone without my mom or dad. I remember being so scared, but by the end of our trip, I didn't want to go home! I remember taking the bus to go run errands and shopping together, all of the plants you and Grandpa cared for in the back garden, the hamburger place next door, and grandpa walking to go get conchas. 

Then you came to visit us in Ga. with Grandpa and Uncle Eddie. I remember driving to Miami and Key West, which was a lot of fun. Then you came to visit again for Kurt's graduation and we took a road trip to Mississippi and Tennessee to go to Graceland. 

You also taught my mom how to make your rice and beans, which we still make - veganized :), and I hope to pass the tradition on one day!

I only wish we were able to spend more time together in my older years, but I'm so lucky for the time and memories we shared together.

I thought of you today , But that’s nothing new. I thought about you yesterday & the day before that to. I think of you in silence, & I often speak your name. all i have now are memories, & your pictures in frames . Your memory is my keepsake, with which I’ll never part . God has you now , while I have you in my heart.

Grandma,
I can't believe your gone, you have given me so much  of life's experiences and advise and even though I imagine you didn't think I was listening indeed I was, I soaked in what you tried to tell me and followed most of your wise advise. 
 I miss our conflicting opinions and after we said what we needed to we still hugged it out I guess that was my mom in me lol, losing Dad and (Jose ) 2 yrs ago and now you it makes me want to live each day to the fullest. You always told me enjoy your life while I'm young because it sucks getting old and we laughed. 
Miss you Grandma with all my heart and say Hi to Grandpa, Mom, Dad and my loving brothers, till we meet again.

Aunty...where do I begin. Not a day passes that I don't think of you. I feel your presence so much.  Some days I'm fine..others the memories flood my mind....I cry...I laugh. ...I remember. 

You were such a part of our lives growing up...the family gatherings...the lessons ...the cooking...OMG we still have your recipes.  I've passed those on who want to learn...to preserve our traditions that you taught us. 

I enjoyed our visits...sharing the photos of the grand babies with you...how you would accidentally shut my phone off...lol. 

You will always be in my heart...alot of who I am is because of you.

My very first memory of Ramona is when I was maybe 5 years old. They visited us in Morelia. Her black hair with that small white area. She had always a smile to share with us. We will meet in the future. 

I'm Ramona Flores, known to my family as Monchise. Growing up very close to my aunt, I have so many memories as a child. She taught me how to write her grocery list in Spanish, she made me eat liver for the first ( and last ) time, I remember going downtown with her visiting her favorite stores Harris', Woolworth's & JC Penney. But my most precious moments were our chats during her stay at the Convalescent hospital. That was when our love grew deeper, even till her last breathe.  I 💙 you Aunty
