Joseph M. Chavez

Born Sunday, May 29, 1932, Joseph M. Chavez (JC) was born to Dionisio and Amelia Chavez in Los Angeles, California. He passed away Thursday, February 17, 2021, with his beloved wife by his side in Fontana, California.

JC attended Hollywood High and lived in Los Angeles and the southern surrounding areas the majority of his life.

He was a machinist, retiring from Norris Industry’s Government Section after 35 years. He enjoyed camping, dancing, family gatherings and most of all, he loved a good nap! Family was everything to him. He lived a happy life. JC was a great man with a big beautiful heart. He was well-respected and never met a stranger. JC was very welcoming of others and treated them as if he knew them for years. He was always helpful to others whether it be lending an ear or offering supportive and encouraging words. He truly wanted those around him happy and could often be seen with a smile on his face.

JC met the love of his life Rosa Gomez at Steven’s Steakhouse in 1979 and were married in 1985. The Lord blessed the two of them with a beautiful life and love, giving them 36 wonderful years together. They enjoyed traveling especially to Las Vegas and Laughlin, Nevada.

He was loved by many and will truly be missed.

JC is preceded in death by his parents, his brother and sister.

He is survived by his spouse, Rosie; one sister, three children, six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, countless nieces, nephews and extended family.

A Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at Blessed St. John XXIII Catholic Church, 7650 Tamarind Ave, Fontana, CA 92336 on Friday, April 9, 2021 at 1:30 p.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 2:00 p.m.
