Irma Cupersmith, 79, of Apple Valley, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2024, surrounded by her loving husband and four loving children. Irma was born on April 6, 1944, in Chihuahua, Mexico, to her late parents, Esequiel and Elena Cerecerez. Irma was preceded in death by her loving brothers, Cesar and Zeke Cerecerez. Irma was number 4 of 8 children. She was a devoted wife, mother, businesswoman, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and her family meant everything to her. She was married on June 10, 1966, to Leizer Cupersmith. They celebrated 58 wonderful and loving years together while raising their children.
Irma, her parents, and siblings came to the United States with an ambition of living the American dream. She began working in a “chocolate-making” warehouse in downtown Los Angeles and shortly after that she enrolled and attended Cosmetology school. Irma went on to graduate with a Cosmetology license and began working in her brother’s beauty salon in Los Angeles, where she gained her experience as a professional hairstylist. Irma went on to open her very own beauty salon in the city of Pomona where she worked hard and gained more experience as she established her own clientele.
After a few years and wanting to be closer to home, she sold her beauty salon and relocated to the city of Upland, where she opened her second beauty salon. Irma had made a name for herself as a very dedicated Mexican business owner and hairstylist which also gained her many loyal customers. She retired in 2002 after 35 years as a hairstylist. Irma decided it was time to hang it all up so that she could do more traveling with her retired husband and spend more time with her children and grandchildren.
Irma was a very strong, tough, and proud independent woman. She succeeded in exactly what she had set her mind to and it paid off in the long run. She was the type of woman who could do just about anything. She loved and enjoyed gardening, flowers, especially roses, being domestic at home, and loved all sorts of birds. Irma was an amazing cook in the kitchen. Most notably for her homemade shredded beef tacos and salsa which she took ample time to make so they would be just perfect. Irma also loved to travel. She loved going to her second home in Laughlin. Irma loved casinos and always had luck on her side winning many jackpots. She especially loved spending quality time with her husband and family eating at all the different casino buffets.
Irma travelled to Hawaii several times and loved the outdoor scenery, food, music, and Hawaiian culture. Irma spent time watching her grand children’s sporting events. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and her margaritas. Her love for her husband, children and grandchildren was on a completely different level and will greatly be missed by all who knew her. She will forever be loved in our hearts, always be missed, but never forgotten, by her family and by all that knew her.
Irma is survived by her husband Leizar, and her four children: Elizabeth and Mike Almandinger, Gary and Lisa Cupermith, Pete and Krista Cupersmith, and Bobby Cupersmith. Irma has 11 grandchildren: Frankie, Alexis, Lindsey, Audrina, Justin, Ryan, Brittney, Nico, Trevor, Dylan and Kevin. Irma had 5 great-grandchildren: David, Maddison, Parker, Hadley, Charlee Rae. Irma is also survived by sisters, Alicia Delgado-Oramas (Jose), Maria Garcia, Marty Vorhis and brother Michelle Cerecerez.
