She was born July 13th, 1947 in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of the late Thurmond Marcus and Juliette Alexander- Marcus.
Genevieve is survived by her husband, Ronald Bailey of 49 years; son, Solomon Bailey and wife, Melissa Garcia; two daughters, Danielle Bailey, Nicole Bailey and cherished son-in-law, Travis Lee; stepson, Rodney Rougeau; stepson, Ronald Bailey Jr.; ten grandchildren; one soon-to-arrive great-granddaughter; three brothers Alfred Marcus, Anthony Marcus, and Kevin Marcus; plus, a host of nephews and nieces.
Genevieve was known for her love of helping others. During her service with the Social Security Administration, from which she retired; she loved her job and was very passionate about her clients and assisting them with receiving the help they needed all the while being a firm advocate.
As a devoted Christian, her faith and family were central to her life. She attended Loveland Ministry for twenty years. She enjoyed attending women retreats with her sisters of Loveland. She loved to read and spend quality time with her family. She had a passion for music with Michael Jackson being one of her favorite artists. She instilled lifelong lessons onto her grandchildren and always enjoyed good conversations filled with laughter. Her children and grandchildren were her world and she loved them deeply. From teaching them how to properly hold their utensils to ensuring they said their prayers before meals and bed every night. She was always there to help raise her grandchildren and ensure they were the best versions of themselves. As a devoted mother, she instilled morals and values in her children. She always encouraged them to put one hundred percent in everything they did. As a devoted wife, she stood by her husband through sickness and health, as well as the highs and lows. Genevieve was a phenomenal woman, an excellent listener, she gave the best advice, she had a larger-than-life personality and beautiful smile to match. She is loved and will be greatly missed.
