William Henry Hassinger III

William Henry Hassinger III (Bill) passed away peacefully on March 27th, 2024 at the age of 76. Bill was the grandson of Birmingham industrialist and philanthropist, William H. Hassinger, Sr. He always attempted to embody the name of his father and grandfather by never failing to have a kind word for someone – whether a complete stranger or a dear friend. Bill graduated from Tennessee Military Institute, followed by a 30 year career at Alabama Power Company. Bill loved two things devoutly: his beloved wife, LaDonna; and his son, Will. Bill is preceded in death by his wife, LaDonna. He is survived by his sisters, Emily McCall (Willard) and Eleanor Hassinger, his brother Hank Hassinger , his son Will (Erynn), and his grandchildren Quinn and Reese. He'll be remembered by all as a man who was amiable with a contagious smile. There will be a small graveside service on April 19th at 2pm at Elmwood Cemetery to honor the legacy of a man who -no matter his level of exhaustion- was never too tired to throw a baseball with his son.
