William "Pat" Patrick Carnes

William “Pat” Patrick Carnes, age 76 of Birmingham, he had a rock solid faith in Jesus Christ and went home to be with him on Sunday, January 7, 2024. Pat is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lois Rounsaville Carnes; daughters, Heather Carnes Mitchell (Tony) and Holly Carnes Nichols (Bryan David); and grandchildren, Christian Nichols, Reagan Nichols, Kate Nichols, Harris Mitchell and Molly Mitchell. Pat was a 1965 graduate of Bessemer High School and attended Jefferson State Jr. College. He served with the U.S. Army in Charlie Company 1st Bn. 8th Infantry, 4th Infantry Division in Vietnam as a Combat Infrantryman during 1967-68, while serving with Charlie Company his unit received the Presidential Unit Citation for combat on Firebase 29 on May 25, 1968. He retired from Alabama By Products in 2009 after 42 years. Pat enjoyed spending time with his family at their Smith Lake home, boating and cooking for the family and their friends, and Alabama Football. His family will celebrate his life with visitation on Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 12:00 – 1:45 at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel, followed by a graveside service at Jefferson Memorial Gardens beginning at 2:00.
