Virginia Brittain Strong Chambers, 91, of Birmingham, Alabama passed away on August 15, 2020. She was predeceased by her parents, George Harris Brittain and Ruby Lou Hamilton Brittain; her first husband, David Lyle Strong; and her second husband, Albert James Chambers. She is survived by her daughter, Martha Ann Strong of Senatobia, MS; her son, George D. Strong (Lisa) of Sylacauga, AL; grandson, Ben Strong of Ramer, AL; grandson, Jon Strong (Chelsey) of Sylacauga, AL; and great-granddaughter, Raelyn Grace Strong of Sylacauga, AL. Mrs. Chambers was a proud 1947 graduate of Phillips High School and attended Birmingham Southern College. She participated in music venues of all kinds. She was a member of the Shades Valley Music Club, and past president of the Alabama Federation of Music Clubs. She was a charter member of Mountain Chapel United Methodist Church and sang with the chancel choir until the age of 85. Her last years were spent at Galleria Woods Senior Living, where she sang in the Senior Chorus. A public visitation will be held on Friday, August 21, 2020 from 10:00am-11:00am in the Maple Room of Johns Ridout's Elmwood Chapel located at 800 Dennison Ave. SW Birmingham, AL. 35211 with a graveside service to follow at 11:00am in Elmwood Cemetery.
