Terry dedicated his life to the Lord at an early age while attending 4th Avenue Baptist Church in East Lake. Terry made lifelong relationships everywhere he went through life including church, school, work and social events. He attended Banks High school for his freshman year of high school, moving to Ramsay High School for his remaining three years, graduating in 1984. Ramsay was then and has remained one of the most important parts of Terry’s life. He often reminisced about the “good times” had at Ramsay and hardly a day went by that he did not mention something relating to his Ramsay days. He loved, admired and respected his principal, Dr. Larry Contri. Terry’s years at Ramsay were some of the happiest years of his life.
After graduation from Ramsay, Terry went to Florida State in Tallahassee for a short period of time. Terry had such a free, roaming spirit, college proved to not be the route for him. He returned home after one year where he started his career journey sharing his love and caring nature in every opportunity he was given. Terry had a love of caring for people who were unable to care for themselves or less fortunate than him, with a special place in his heart for the elderly. Terry’s work at Cooper Green Hospital was where he manifested that love and passion in the ER admission office, always going above and beyond any way he could. After years at Cooper Green he moved on to work at Lloyd Nolan hospital in the maintenance supply headquarters over purchasing. Terry over saw the remodeling of the hospital and found that to be another passion of his, with his eye for design and style, this was a perfect fit. Terry loved meeting and talking to new people, so with that, his journey took him to Jefferson County Health Department where he worked in the Vital Records department. While working during the day, he decided to attend Real Estate school at night, which turned out to be Terry’s true passion.
After working with a number of real estate companies, he moved into the finance and mortgage side of real estate. Terry launched his own mortgage company, Landmark Mortgage, with his partner, Marco Johnson and also was co-owners of J.L. Real Estate Investment.
Terry’s journey through life was always to be in a position of service to others. He was the kind of person who would literally give you the shirt off his back or give you his last dime. Terry lived his life to the absolute fullest, never met a stranger and was always there to lend a hand. He never asked for anything in return and had a genuine happiness for the success and happiness of others. Terry’s family was the pride and shining light of his life. He had a beautiful spirit that exemplified grace and generosity. He will be sorrowfully missed by family and friends alike.
