Tanya Lee Carey

She was born in Riverdale, Georgia on January 3, 1973. Tanya moved to the Birmingham area when she was seven years old. She is 1991 graduate of Hewitt Trussville High School. After attending Jefferson State Community College, she worked in accounts receivable at EHS for 16 years and another four years at Vineyard Brands until her disease forced her to quit working.

Tanya was someone you would never forget if you were lucky enough to meet her. She was a light that people gravitated toward when she walked into a room. Tanya was a champion for the underdog and proved it by cheering for the Auburn Tigers. While she was opinionated and had no qualms letting others know where she stood, she would never knowingly hurt anyone’s feelings. The greatest joy in her life was that of being a mother to her daughter and son.

Left to cherish her memory is her adoring husband of 10 years, Kevin Andrew Carey; daughter, Devin Taylor Lovett; son, Dylan Thomas Lovett; mother, Linda Carol Johnson; sister, Shawna Elaine Samples; two stepchildren, Alexander Thomas Carey and Courtney Elizabeth Carey; two nieces, Madison Elaine Sartori and Ashtyn Farah Renda; grandmother, Ester Lee; and Great-grandmother, Naomi Wright Bramblett.

There will be a memorial service at Ridout's Trussville Chapel on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at 7:00 pm. The family will begin receiving friends at 5:30 pm.
