Suttle Mims, age 90 passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2024. She was born on March 7, 1937 in Carbon Hill, Alabama to Charles Hadden and Marguerite Lipscomb Gilder. Suttle was delivered at home by her grandfather, Dr. George Suttle Gilder, as her older brother, Harry Lipscomb Gilder, had been.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Stanley Lowell Mims; and a beloved son, David Lowell Mims, who died at 16 of a lifelong heart problem.
She is survived by her daughter, Kelly Mims Creech; grandson, Jesse David Creech (Stacy); granddaughter, Marguerite Suttle Creech (Michael Browning); and great-granddaughter, Blair.
Suttle has been a member of Huffman Baptist Church for over 50 years, where she worked with children as a Sunday School teacher for many years and had enjoyed working in the Church Library. At the time of her passing, she resided in Freeport, Florida with her daughter.
A visitation for Suttle will be held Friday, December 6, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Ridout's Trussville Chapel, 1500 Gadsden Hwy, Birmingham, AL 35235, followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 PM. Larry Smith with officiate.
