Susan passed away peacefully at her home with her sister and other family members by her side. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Ridley, parents, George and Bessie (Barker) Bohorfoush III, and brother, George F. Bohorfoush, IV. She is survived by her sister, Charlotte B. French, her sister-in-law, Sherry Bohorfoush, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. "Miss B" had a long career teaching English and Literature at John Carroll High School, Ensley High School and Leeds High School. She was a devoted volunteer at St. Vincent’s Hospital as one of the “Bow Ladies” for over 40 years. She never had idle hands and was always busy with creative projects such as intricately beaded eggs and her crochet and knit projects. Because of her love of the written word and her ability to speak eloquently, she read novels and newspapers on the radio for the blind community through Radio Read. What she loved most was reading to her nieces and nephews. Susan had a particular gift for caring for elderly family and friends and was generous with her time. She was instrumental in helping her dad care for her mom during the final years. Because of their invaluable support during Susan’s final few months, the family requests that donations in her memory be made to SouthernCare New Beacon Hospice, 4735 Norrell Drive Suite 129, Trussville, AL 35173. We would like to thank all of her caregivers in her last months, especially Lora, Jean, Chris, Rhonda, and Ashley. The family will have a private graveside service at Elmwood Cemetery.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.johnsridoutselmwoodchapel.com for the Ridley family.
