Colonel Hansen was born on April 20, 1951 in Baraboo, WI to Irvin and Angeline Hansen. He graduated from Waupun High School in 1969. Then went on to attend the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs and graduated in 1973. Colonel Hansen served dutifully in the Air Force for 26 years. His illustrious career of service included B-52 Radar Navigator, Presidential Advance Agent serving under President Reagan and Vice President Bush, Sr., Faculty Member of the Air Command and Staff College, Commandant of the International Officer School, and Director of the Squadron Officer School. He also earned a MS of Human Resources from Troy University. Post Air Force Retirement, Colonel Hansen served as the Vice President of Operations at US Foods, Montgomery for twenty years.
He is survived by his loving Wife of 47 years, Paula Dvorak Hansen; Sons Chad Steven Hansen (Molly), Todd Michael Hansen (Erin); Daughter Heather Hansen Rowlen (Dennis); Grandchildren Katelyn Marie Hansen, Anna Ryan Hansen, Hunter Michael Hansen, Elizabeth Ward Rowlen, Mia Christine Hansen, and Henry Walter Rowlen; and his Brother Mark David Hansen (Diane); He is preceded in death by his parents Irvin and Angeline Hansen.
The family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gary Sinise Foundation or St. Jude Research Hospital.
