Sarah W McCool

MCCOOL, SARAH W., age 82 of Trussville, went home to be with her family on Saturday, January 15, 2022. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Lorene Ledbetter, Louise Edwards, Jimmie Duncan, Clara Clement Stephens, Sue Kilgore and Peggy Green. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, C. Edwin McCool; sons, Steve E. McCool and Bryon E. McCool (Teresa); grandchildren, Jessica M. Pennington (Brad) and Jered McCool; great-grandson, Ian Pennington; sisters, Eloise Harbin, Ruby Harbin, Becki Ledbetter and Doris Whiteley (Marvin); brother, Lee Wiginton (Betty); brothers-in-law, Garry Green and Roy Duncan; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Sarah was born and raised in Hackleburg, AL where she attended Hackleburg High School and worked on the family farm. She developed a deep love for her family that lasted her entire life. Sarah went to work for Alabama Power and was one of the first women to become a supervisor and was a pioneer in creating an environment for people with disabilities for which she received the Industry Labor Council Award of Honor by the National Center on Employment and Disability. She enjoyed the outdoors by traveling to different campgrounds, hiking and working in her yard. Her family will celebrate her life with visitation on Friday, January 21, 2022 from 1-2 PM at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel with her service beginning at 2:00. Burial at Valhalla Cemetery will be at a later time.
