Sandra (Sandy) Strickland Rickles passed away on April 6, 2024, surrounded by her family. Born to E.D. and Lucille Strickland on September 4, 1948, Sandy was a loyal wife, mother of 4 children, and Mimi to 6 grandchildren.
She was a devoted Christian, talented pianist, and former preschool teacher who lived a life marked with grace, faith and compassion. In 1968, she married her beloved husband, Jack, at Grace Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama, marking the start of 55 years of love and devotion.
Sandy’s love extended to her four children, Renae Perry, Lisa (Tommy) Acton, Andy (April) Rickles, and Mary (Jared) Conley; her brother, Donald; her six grandchildren, and countless friends and family members. Each of them will forever remember her empathy, wit and gentle spirit. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents.
A celebration of life will be held April 10 at 2:00 p.m. at Huffman United Methodist Church in Birmingham. Visitation will be held at 12:30 p.m.
Sandy will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who were blessed to know her.
