Rosa McAnally Butera passed away peacefully on the afternoon of February 13th, 2016. She was lovingly surrounded by her family. She was 88 years old. Rosa was born to Henry and Mamie McAnally on April 10, 1927, in Warrior, Alabama. She attended Corner High School and after graduating she moved to the big city of Birmingham. It was there she attended Carslile’s School of Beauty and graduated with her Cosmetology license. She and her beloved Andrew were married on March 28, 1951 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Rosa owned her own Beauty Salon from 1953 until 1989 in Ensley. After retiring from her hair salon, she began working part time at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church as Father Michael McMahon’s assistant. Rosa and Andrew lived in Ensley Highlands and raised 5 children there. They were always surrounded by friends and family and were the most kind and loving couple. They were married 42 years when Andrew passed away. Rosa moved to Homewood, Alabama and lived the remainder of her life there with her daughter. Rosa was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Mamie, her brothers Buddy, Babe and Brother and sisters Bertie Mae and Irene. Her beloved husband, Andrew and her son in laws Clay Radney and Wain Greene. She is survived by her sisters Mary Frances and Hollis, her son Tony (Vicky), daughters Teresa, Regina, Rosina (Tom) and Cathey (Vincent). She was adored by her grandchildren, Ben, Andrew, Rose Ann, Zach, Christina, Angel and Giavanna. Great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Tyler, Taylor, Christian, Tommy and Brailey. Arrangements are as follow; Viewing will be at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church on Tuesday, February 16th ; viewing from 5 until 7 pm with Rosary beginning at 7 pm. Funeral mass at Our Lady of Sorrows on Wednesday, February 17th at 10:00 am with burial immediately following at Oakland Cemetery. “Roll Tide!”
