Richard T Sheehan

September 07, 1932 – November 01, 2014

Age 82 of Bluff Park went to be with his Lord Saturday, November 1, 2014. Dick joined the Navy at age 16 and was an Underwater Demolition Specialist during the Korean War. In 1953 he went on a blind date only to fall in love with his sweet heart, Claire. They were married in 1955 and celebrated 59 years of marriage on June 26, 2014.

Dick is preceded in death by his parents, John Edward Sheehan and Ida Lucille Taylor; and his grandparents, Granddaddy and Mammy Cannon. He is survived by his loving wife, Claire Maddox Sheehan; his children, Kim Breckenridge (Joe), Lance Sheehan (Suzanne), and Randy Sheehan (Cindy) , and his best friend Precious; grandchildren, Todd Breckenridge (Becky), Kyle Breckenridge (Betina), Jason Sheehan (Lauren), Shaun and Brandon Sheehan, Rachel and Emily Sheehan; great grandchildren, Samantha Sheehan and Mack Breckenridge. He also leaves behind a host of extended family, church family, and his dear sister-in-law Shirley McDowell.

Dick was a member of Shades Mountain Independent Church since September 14, 1975 and the American Legion.

The family will receive friends and church family at Shades Mountain Independent Church from 9:00 to 11:00 o’clock Tuesday, November 4th with service to follow at 11:00 o’clock with Pastor Harry Walls leading the Celebration of Life Service. Burial will take place at Elmwood Cemetery with military honors.
