Paula Jean Simmons Haynes

HAYNES, PAULA JEAN SIMMONS, age 68 of Trussville, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jean and Paul Simmons. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Ernie Haynes; son, Matthew Charles Haynes (Cailyn); daughter, Amanda Haynes Miller (Zach); brother, David Simmons; sister, Laura Simmons; and grandchildren, Landon Miller, Max Miller, Caroline Miller, Sophia Miller, McCord Haynes and Henry Haynes. Paula was a beloved wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She graduated from Hewitt-Trussville High School in 1967 and earned her undergraduate degree from Samford University 1971 where she served as President of Zeta Tau Alpha, and later earned her Masters of Business and Public Health Administration from UAB. Paula was a member and elder of Center Point Presbyterian Church where she served faithfully. She taught at Erwin High School and Jefferson State Community College. Paula was a member of the Jenny June Crowley Study Club of Trussville, Trussville Garden Club, involved in leadership with Presbyterian Women, a Master Gardner with the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, and enjoyed activities with her local Bunko Club and her Forever Sisters. Her family will celebrate her life at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel.
