Patsy served as Coordinator for the Shelby County American Red Cross until her retirement. Assisting people in need was her specialty. More than once she made the statement that she wasn’t gifted with a special talent or ability. Oh, but she was! She had a servant’s heart and she helped so many people in need during her life time.
Patsy never married or had children of her own, however, she was like a Mom to three of her siblings when they were young. She was also like a second Mom to her friend’s children. In addition, after she retired, she became a Nanny to two children, who she loved like her own
She was preceded in death by her parents, George L. and Louise C. Tyler; brother, William Albert Tyler; and a sister, Linda Tyler McVea. Patsy leaves behind to cherish her memory: Martha Tyler Mears, Callahan, Fl; Deborah Tyler Roberson, Calera, AL; Doris Tyler Swann (Barry), Bessemer, AL; and many nieces and nephews.
She loved well and will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 from 10am until 11 am at Hoover First Baptist Church; with a celebration of life to follow at 11 am. Patsy will be buried at Birmingham’s historic Elmwood Cemetery in block 48.
