Costas, Nick Alex, age 85, of Guntersville, AL, formerly of Birmingham, died April 5, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Cleo T. Costas; son, Alex Nick Costas; daughter, Christine Warren (John) of Albertville, AL; and grandchildren, Taylor McMurtrey, Charles Costas, and Nicholas Costas.
Nick attended Ensley High School, and served in the US Navy and Coast Guard Reserve, Retired Commander. He worked for U.S. Steel and Bright Star Restaurant in Bessemer. He was a member of Holy Trinity Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, April 9, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral, with burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Johns-Ridout’s Funeral Parlors, Southside, with a Prayer service to begin at 6:15 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral or Hospice of Marshall County Shepherd’s Cove.
