Nancy (Holloway) Moore passed away on September 12, 2024, at the age of 83 in Birmingham, Alabama. She was born on November 14, 1940 in Hartselle, Alabama. She was a graduate of Decatur High School. She went on to attend the University of North Alabama and completed her bachelor’s degree at the University of Alabama. She enjoyed a career as an administrative assistant at the University of Alabama at Birmingham working in both the Vice President’s office and the Office of Development.
Nancy was a devoted and faithful United Methodist Woman that actively participated in several congregations including Decatur First United Methodist, Bluff Park United Methodist, Riverchase United Methodist, Saint Mark United Methodist and Mountain Chapel United Methodist. She was a member of the UMC Women’s group, attended Sunday School, church services and assisted with special events and celebrations. Fellow members were always happy to see her wonderful pound cake at church events. Her faith deeply influenced her life and how she treated others.
She was a loving wife to her late husband, Robert D. Moore, and a devoted mother to her children, James H. Crow IV (Lisa), Elizabeth C. Eldridge (Chris), C. Martin Moore, and Timothy E. Moore (Lee). She is survived by her grandchildren Nicholas R. Crow and Stephanie L. Jackson and several great grandchildren. Her parents, Louis B. Holloway and Louise R. Holloway, preceded her in death.
Nancy's zest for life was evident in her hobbies, which included golfing, fishing, bunco and garden club. Nancy loved to entertain and threw wonderful parties including many baby showers, bridal teas and of course on Saturdays during the fall when Alabama was playing football. Her crafts included creating silk flowers, doll making, decorative painting, flower arrangement, jewelry making, and gold leafing. Known for her exceptional organization and homemaking, her "lust for cleanliness” and “vacuuming the trees" became an inside joke. She loved all things sparkly and frequently incorporated gems, sequins, gilt and glitter in her crafting. Our lives will be duller with her passing.
Rev. John Mount will officiate a graveside service to be held at Elmwood Cemetery, Block 35, in Birmingham, Alabama, on Friday, September 20th at 1 pm. Elmwood Cemetery will also assist with the arrangements.
