Murray Dixon Coleman, Sr., age 95, of Childersburg, AL, passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2015. He is preceded in death by his wife, Olga Catherine Coleman; his son, Murray Dixon Coleman, Jr; and his parents, James Dixon Coleman and Vera Mae Coleman. He is survived by his daughters, Cathy Coleman Sanders and Debbie Palmer (David.) Mr. Coleman, “Grandad”, is also survived by his grandchildren, Amy McKinnon Landers (Jim), Russell Reid McKinnon (Leigh), Kyle Palmer and Clay Palmer, as well as his great-grandchildren Jada, Jordan, Hadley and Jackson. Mr. Coleman was a veteran of WWII, having served in the United States Navy in the Aleutian Islands as a Pharmicist Mate. Mr. Coleman held membership with the Eastern Stars, Shriners International, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Coleman spent the past two years as a resident of the Colonel Robert L. Howard State Veterans Home in Pell City, AL. His family would like to thank the staff for their outstanding service and care, during his residency. His family will receive friends on Friday, December 4, 2015 10:00 am at Elmwood Memorial. His service will begin at 11:00 am, with Rev. John Limbaugh officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Cemetery.
