Michael Nicks Williams

Mike, age 70, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 4, 2015. Native of Houston, Texas his family moved to Birmingham, AL when he was two. He graduated from Shades Valley High School, and went on to attend Gordon Military College, Samford University, and graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Civil Engineering. In 1982 Mike became a stock broker and realized he had found the career he loved which lead to opening his own financial planning company in 2002, Hale Springs Financial Group. Mike loved playing golf and cards, and had a heart for mission trips in Mexico. He was a longtime member and elder of Chapel in the Pines Presbyterian Church and longtime member of Metro Sertoma Club. He is preceded in death by his parents Bart and Mary Jane Williams, his twin sister Mary Pat Claussen, and his brother David Williams. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Leigh Knight Williams; daughter, Chris Anne Massengale and son-in-law Brian, and granddaughter Helen Hope Massengale who was the light of his life; his brother Jonny Williams (Barbara), and a host of nieces and nephews. He loved us well and he was well loved. The family will receive friends on Saturday November 7th, 2015 from 12:00 – 1:00 pm at Chapel in the Pines Presbyterian Church with Celebration of Life service beginning at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Chapel in the Pines Presbyterian Church in Memory of Mike. We will all miss his big heart, big imagination, big laugh, and generous spirit.
