Michael Joseph Tortorice, age 78, of Hoover, Alabama went to be with the Lord Monday, April 15, 2024. He was born December, 30,1945 to Thomas and Rosalie Tortorice. Mike was a graduate of the University of Alabama, where he was a member of the ROTC. Thereafter he served in the United States Army,1st Lt.
Mike was an active member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Homewood, AL. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and participated in the Birmingham Italian Club. He was an avid deer hunter who enjoyed hunting with family and friends throughout his life. Mike had a long career at Big B Drugs until he retired in 1997 as CFO. He went on to serve as the CFO of the Catholic Diocese of Birmingham.
Mike married the love of his life, Josephine Renta on March 6, 1968. They shared a long happy life together raising their three daughters, traveling, cooking and enjoying family gatherings. He was a friend and role model to all.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Josephine. Three daughters Christine Feenker (Chris), Michelle Elliott (Kevin), and Maria Gibbs (Ted). Six grandchildren Madeline Feenker, Nick Feenker, Jacob Feenker, Cole Elliott, Ava Elliott, and Thomas Gibbs. His Brother Charles Tortorice (Kathy), and many people who’s lives he touched.
Visitation will be at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Homewood, AL from 10-11am Friday, April 19, 2024, followed by a funeral mass at 11am. Graveside service will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
