Mary Lee Rouse Smith age 83 of Birmingham, AL, much loved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother was welcomed into the arms of our Lord and her heavenly family on May 5, 2012. She was born on December 26, 1928 in Dora, AL, the eighth child of George Walter and Hattie Lee Rouse. She was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Melvin Smith; her parents and several siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Paul) Kinnane; granddaughters, Carrie (Justin) Hefner and Jenna Shoemake; grandson, Justin Luke; sister, Lawana Lawrence; brother, Billy Rouse; many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 10:00 am at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 am followed by burial in Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her honor to the American Heart Association in Birmingham.
