Mary Ebbie M. Jones

JONES, MARY MAHAFFEY “EBBIE”, age 91 of Troy formerly of Tarrant, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, Travis W Jones; step-daughter, Anne Riggs; parents, Gordon and Sophronia Mahaffey; brothers, Charlie, Matt, and Frank Mahaffey; and sisters, Louise Pickett and Doris Mahaffey. She is survived by her daughters, Jeannie Jones of Birmingham, AL, Rebecca Newhouse (Bo) of Bonaire, GA and Andrea Agnew (Elbert) of Troy, AL; grandchildren, Dean Shaw of Remlap, AL, Kevin Shaw (Thea) of Clanton, AL, Harold Newhouse (Abby) of Waxahachie, TX, Dawn Irvin (Dan) of Pittsburgh, PA, Tanner Newhouse (Jennifer) of Birmingham, AL, Amanda Agnew of Troy, AL, and Joel Agnew-Troy, AL; step grandchildren, Kathy Wilson (Andy) of Pinson, AL, Jada King of McCalla, AL, Tim King, and Tootie Epperson; sisters, Martha Beasley (James) of Eads, TN and Jean Mahaffey of Tarrant, AL; brothers, Robert Mahaffey (Martha Sue) of Montevallo, AL and Bill Mahaffey (Kathie) of Birmingham, AL; many great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ebbie was currently a member of Troy First Baptist Church. She was a member of Tarrant First Baptist Church for over 50 years, teaching the three year old Sunday School class during most of her years there. Ebbie grew up in Tarrant, AL and lived there until 2003 when she moved to Troy, AL. She loved every three year old she ever taught and treated them as her own. Ebbie was a wonderful, loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed greatly. Her family will receive friends on Sunday, March 23, 2014 from 5-7 at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel. Her service will be a Tarrant First Baptist Church on Monday, March 24, 2014 lie-in-state from 1-2 with service at 2 with Bro. Kevin Shaw officiating. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
