Martha F. Whiting

Martha is survived by her son Steve Whiting Sr. (Bobbie) and her daughter Janie Steele (Chuck); her grandchildren Steve Whiting Jr., Mary Lauren Posey (David), Candice Elaine Chenault, Stephanie Pilkinton (Adam), Meagan Mitchell (Eric) and Jake Steele (Kristina); her great-grandchildren, Logan Heatherly, Seth Whiting, Wyatt Posey, Shane Whiting, Graham Chenault, Robert Chenault, Jon Ryan Pilkinton, Brentley Mitchell, Colton Steele, Brayton Mitchell, and Carleigh Steele; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Marvin E. Whiting; her father John B. Falkner and her mother Mattie (O'Barr) Falkner; and her brothers Leon Falkner and Earl Falkner.

Martha was a very spiritual, loving, and sweet woman. She was known for her strong faith and putting every situation in the Lord's hands. Martha loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who affectionately referred to her as "Me Me". She served as an organist at Lakewood Baptist Church for 32 years, as well as at First Baptist Tarrant for 5 years. Martha retired from a career with Motion Industries, Inc. She was truly the matriarch of her family and while they will deeply miss her, they are rejoicing at her reunion with her beloved husband of 70 years, Marvin.

A visitation for Martha will be held Tuesday, October 9, 2018 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Ridout's Trussville Chapel, 1500 Gadsden Hwy, Birmingham, Alabama. Funeral Service will follow at 12:30 PM. Interment at Forest Hill Cemetery, Birmingham, Alabama.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Baptist Church of Trussville. Special Recognition to Peachtree Independent Living and the nurses at St. Vincent's East Hospital.
