Marie was born on April 21, 1929 in Maryland where she joined her mother Mary Virginia Wersten Swift, her father John Swift, and her sisters Ginny and Kitty. Marie Swift traveled south to Alabama and married Walter Smith. They had many happy years together until Walter passed in 1968. Marie did not remarry but stayed on in Alabama with her many friends and her career working for Regions Bank. Marie stayed in close touch with her sisters who both lived in New Jersey. Marie was a kind and thoughtful sister, wife, aunt and friend to those who were lucky enough to be a part of her life. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will miss her sweet heart and loving manners.
