Born in Birmingham Alabama, she was a graduate from Phillips High School. She was married at St Mark’s Catholic Church to Ollis C. Bailey of Birmingham (deceased 2014). Marie was a devout Catholic who attended St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Birmingham. Following the death of her husband she moved to Florida where her children live. She was a devoted Christian, wife and mother to her three daughters. Survivors include daughter Catherine Ann (Bailey) Norris and spouse Bill, daughter Jean Bailey Staninger and spouse Bob, and daughter Nancy Marie (Bailey) Jeter and spouse Chip. Grandchildren include Marie A. Himel (Avie), Jeanna Maureen Staninger, William J. Norris III (Jay), Victoria (Tori) Jeter Garza. Great grandchildren include Jenidt Marie Cruzado, Yasmeen Kayla Rangbaran, Ryan Callie Norris, William J. Norris IV (Liam) and Bailey Ann Himel. She is also survived by her sister Geneva Hallman and brother Steve Sperando and many nieces and nephews. Marie’s sister Frances Taylor and brother Johnny Sperando preceded her in death.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated in her memory at 10:00 am on April 3, 2024, at The Cathedral of Saint Paul, 2120 3rd Ave. N., Birmingham, AL. Following the mass at 12:00 pm she will be laid to rest at Elmwood Cemetery & Mausoleum, 600 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. Birmingham, AL, Block: 47-A.
Immediately after burial the family will receive friends and loved one’s at Johns-Rideout’s Mortuary-Elmwood reception room located at 800 Dennison Ave. SW, Birmingham AL.
