Margie is survived by her daughter June Cash (Robert Hearn) and her sons Dale Potter and George Potter (Rhonda); her brother Rick Rakestraw and sister Shelby Jean Rogers; her grandchildren Amy Armstrong (Stephen), April Crumpton (Matthew), Kristen Hearn, Matthew Hearn (Kelsey), Holly, Jason Potter and Jessie Potter; her great-grandchildren Cash and Hailey; and numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles H. Potter and 4 brothers.
Margie was a strong-willed woman with a caring heart. She was a hard worker who always had a job or two to keep her busy and able to provide for her family. In her younger school years, Margie enjoyed playing basketball. She was also on a bowling league later in her adult life. Margie was very good to her grandchildren, who affectionately referred to her as "MeMe" or "Granny". She babysat her grandchildren whenever asked and enjoyed spending time with them. She was a great cook, and her family remembers enjoying her delicious chicken and dressing. Margie was a caregiver to her family and later to the elderly, even in her own elderly years. She was recently learning to knit from her friend Annie. Margie was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend and will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
A visitation for Margie will be held Monday, October 29, 2018 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Ridout's Trussville Chapel, 1500 Gadsden Hwy, Birmingham, Alabama in the Nolen Room. Following the visitation will be a Graveside Service at 2:30 PM at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, 1591 Gadsden Hwy, Trussville, Alabama.
