Peggy, age 88, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2020. She is survived by Harry Hill, her loving and devoted husband for sixty years. Peggy graduated from Ensley High School and obtained her Bachelor of Science from Howard College in 1956 where she was a member of Phi Mu sorority. She received her Master of Science in Education from Samford University in 1968 and obtained her Certification in Counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Peggy was a dedicated educator who passionately encouraged students. She retired as a counselor from Shades Valley High School in 1992.
Peggy and Harry relished their retirement years with family, church, travel and friends. She was an active member of Bluff Park United Methodist Church for more than 50 years, supporting children, youth and adult ministries with her time and talents.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard W. Parker, brother, John T. Parker and granddaughter, Christin Rae Crockett. Peggy is survived by her children, Karon Crockett (Ray), Margaret Cook (Ted) and Harry Wesley Hill (Elizabeth). She is survived by three grandsons: Spencer James Crockett (Sharayah), Ted Parker Cook and Matthew Hill Cook and three great grandsons: Wyatt, Beau and Owen Crockett. Peggy was a devoted aunt who treasured her nieces and nephews. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the loving caregivers at South Haven Health who cherished Peggy and our family during her final years.
Memorial services will be held at Bluff Park United Methodist Church on Friday, March 6, 2020 with visitation at 10:00 a.m. and service at 11:00 a.m. followed by a graveside at Elmwood Cemetery.
