Linda PEARSON, age 77, of Vestavia, Alabama passed away on Thursday October 17, 2019. Linda was born August 29, 1942. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, R.K. and Martha Bowen; her husband, John R. Pearson; her son, John Chase Pearson; and brother, Dr.R. K. Bowen, Jr. She is survived by her daughter Paige McCallister; grandson, Blakeney Bethea; great-grandchildren, Natalie, Emi Grace, CJ, and Cooper.
Linda was a Doctor of Education who formerly taught at Samford University. She was the founder of the Reading and Math Center, which was the oldest and largest learning center in the state of Alabama, in which she was the president and director for 43 years. She created Word Wise, a phonics and word attack program, which she presented across the country at national educational conferences; at which she was a keynote speaker. The number of students whose lives she influenced are too numerous to count. She was an educator for 47 years.
