Lillian Miller Cole

LILLIAN M. COLE, age 91 died peacefully on Sunday, February 2,2020. She was a graduate of Ensley High School and married her high school sweetheart, John L. Cole in November 1946 after he returned from serving the country in World War II. They were married almost 63 years at the time of his death. Lillian was member of St. Mark United Methodist Church in Vestavia Hills for almost 54 years. She loved entertaining and hosting family and friends for many years. She loved traveling, reading and playing bridge. She loved her family, her friends and was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan. Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Cole; her parents, Alex C. Miller, Sr. and Elizabeth Miller Moffatt; her brothers, Alex "Sandy" Miller, Donald Miller, Larry Miller; her daughter-in-law, Sue Cole; and a special nephew, Matt Miller. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Cole; son, David Cole (Sherron); sister, Vicki Walker; and a host of extended family and friends. The family extends a special thanks to her church family, to the staff in Unit 300 at Aspire Hoover, and to Oasis Hospice. The family will receive friends, Friday, February 7, 2020 at 10:00 am at Elmwood Chapel. A service of remembrance will follow at 11:30 am. Rev. Don Cross officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Mark United Methodist Church.
