Kathryn Morgan Hoagland Boyd was born July 25th 1931 to Samp and Myrtle Morgan of Walker County. She passed away on June 8, 2024. She was proceeded in death by her parents, and brothers Gavin, Calvert, Douglas, and Gale Morgan, sisters Barbara Cooke, Mildred Burch, and Ershel Goggins, first husband Billy Hoagland and second husband Luke Boyd, and son Billy Hugh Hoagland Jr.
Kathryn loved sharing how blessed she was with anyone she met by showing off her family photos and telling stories of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandson. She absolutely loved to play canasta with her family and friends in her club, Birmingham Friends and Fun (BFF) and was a very clever and skilled player. She was a member of Columbiana’s First Baptist Church.
She is survived by daughter Kathy (Bob Armbrester), son Larry Hoagland, step-daughters Laura Rylant (Danny) and Leslie Boyd, grandchildren Jennifer Brakefield (Chris), Michael Armbrester (Diana), Andrea Austin (Robby), Dylan Rylant, great grandchildren Jacob Armbrester (Madison) and Nicolas Armbrester, Thomas, Harrison, and Hudson Brakefield, Clara, Joseph, and Samp Austin, and great great grandson Benjamin Armbrester, sister-in- law Mildred Morgan and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be Friday June 14th at Elmwood Chapel, Birmingham at 10AM until 11AM. The funeral will take place immediately following visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be given to St. Joseph Indian School.
