Joseph Anthony Tombrello passed away Thursday, December 18, 2014. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Tombrello; brother, Salvadore Tombrello; sister, JoAnn Tombrello; grandson, Brad William Hoppe; and nephew, Frank Siragusa, Jr.
Mr. Tombrello was born February 11, 1935 in Ensley, Alabama. He was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. Joseph will be missed by all but will never be forgotten. He was a Navy veteran and owned the Texaco on Highway 78 for seven years and then owned the Central Park Shell Station until his retirement.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Carleta Tombrello; four daughters, Debra T. Paonessa (Joe), Donna T. Hoppe, Karen T. Cunningham (Jim), Michelle Tombrello; and son, Joseph Anthony Tombrello (Carrie). He is also survived by his sister, Marie Drennan, and brother, James Tombrello (Debbie).
Mr. Tombrello was blessed with five surviving grandchildren; Joseph Aaron Cunningham (Whitney), Rachel Cunningham Hunt (Joey), James Michael Cunningham, Ron Joseph Hoppe, Sophia Marie Tombrello, and two great grandchildren; Isabelle Rose Hunt and Landon James Cunningham, and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Elmwood Chapel on Monday, December 22nd from 10:00 to 11:00 AM with funeral mass immediately following at 11:00 AM. Burial service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery.
J. Aaron Cunningham, James M. Cunningham, Ron J. Hoppe, Joseph C. Hunt, Mike Palestini, and Jim Cunningham will be serving as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers the family request donation be made to St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church Building Fund, 2061 Patton Chapel, Hoover, AL 35244.
