John Rice Kelsoe, age 101, of Vestavia, Alabama, passed away Monday, November 27, 2017. He was born in Opp, Alabama in 1916 and spent most of his life in the Birmingham area. He graduated from Chillicothe College, and received the bronze star for his service as a first lieutenant in WWII. He spent most of his career in the life insurance industry in Birmingham. In 1947, he married Mary Virginia Harrison and remained married to her for 52 years until she passed away. He was an active member of the Palisades Church of Christ for over 60 years. He is survived by one son, John Rice Kelsoe, Jr (Susan), and two grandchildren, Katy Marie Kelsoe and Jacob Ian Kelsoe. He was loved by all for his kindness and will be greatly missed.Visitation will be from 1-2 pm and funeral service at 2pm on Thursday November 30, 2017 at Elmwood Chapel with burial in Elmwood Cemetery.
