John Franklin Allan

John is survived by his children, Kathy Ward, Jim Allan (Donna) and Suzanne Page (John) all of Birmingham. Grandchildren David Ward (Tina), Sarah Rew (Eric), James Allan, Anna Kate Carroll (Zach), Miller Allan (Shea) and Ross Page (Crandall). Great grandchildren Katie Grace and Caroline Rew, Hannah and Emily Ward and Georgia Carroll.

John was born on September 28, 1934 in Birmingham, Alabama to Anna Katherine and Harvey Allan. He graduated from Phillips High School in 1952 and the University of Alabama in 1956 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He served in the Air Force and was stationed in Madrid, Spain.

While living in Huntsville, he was a faithful member of Weatherly Heights Baptist Church and active in Kiwanis Club, serving as President several times.

Retirement brought John back to Birmingham where he became a member of Shades Crest Baptist Church and enjoyed his time volunteering and golfing at the Frank House Golf Course with his “golfing buddies”. He loved living close to the University of Alabama and he and Joyce attended all football, basketball, baseball, softball and gymnastics meets. He was a true lifelong Alabama alumnus and fan. A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 1st at 9:00am at Elmwood Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet at Johns Ridout's Elmwood Chapel located at 800 Dennison Ave. SW Birmingham, Alabama 35211 by 8:45am and we will all process down to the cemetery together. Because of his love for golf, John’s wish was to have his guests wear golf shirts at his funeral. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in his memory to:
