Joan Marie Boone Jackson, better known as “Nie," got to meet Jesus on July 31, 2017. She was born on August 3, 1941, in Birmingham, Alabama. Joan is now celebrating in Heaven with her mother, Ella Mae Boone; her father, Johnnie Ernest Boone; her sister, Sarah Dell Glidewell; and her brother-in-law James Ray Carroll. Joan and her husband, Boyd, shared a love that is mostly only seen in fairytales.
Nie’s specialty was making everyone she encountered feel the overwhelming love of Jesus. She spent most of her time loving, celebrating, and bragging on her five grandchildren. She was an active member of Church of the Highlands and served on the Worship Guide Team. She also helped launch the Church of the Highlands, Huntsville Campus before moving to Trussville, Alabama and joining the Grantsmill Campus.
Joan is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Charles Boyd Jackson (Trussville, Alabama), son Joey Jackson and daughter-in-law Margaret Ellen (Athens, Alabama), daughter Joy Giattina and son-in-law John (Trussville, Alabama), sister Ruth Carroll (West Blocton, Alabama), brother Jack Boone and sister-in-law Carolyn (Birmingham, Alabama). She was a proud grandmother to five grandchildren, Brittany Jackson (Los Angles, California), Anna Marie Giattina Perrin and Jesse Perrin (Hartselle Alabama), Boyd Jackson (Stanford, California), Victoria Giattina (Tuscaloosa, Alabama), and Elizabeth Giattina (Trussville, Alabama), and two great-grandchildren Brooks and Charleigh Perrin (Hartselle, Alabama). They cannot wait to see her again.
The visitation will be held August 2, 2017, from 12:00 pm-1:00 pm followed by the Celebration of Life at Church of the Highlands Chapel, Grantsmill Campus. The graveside service will be held at Forest Crest Cemetery immediately after.
Paul bearers will be Earnest Carroll, Randy Hearon, Mike Hearon, Scott Jackson, Johnathan Miller, and Joseph Miller.
In Joan's spare time, she would find youth in need of donations for mission trips and send an anonymous donation. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Church of the Highlands National and International Mission Trip Funds. 3660 Grandview Parkway, Birmingham, AL 35243.
