Jimmy H Knowles

Jimmy Howard Knowles, 90, of Pinson, AL passed away on October 5, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born to Jesse Howard and Hazel Knowles on June 19, 1933. Jimmy was a graduate of Hewitt-Trussville High School. After high school Jimmy attended college at Wayne State in Michigan. He served in the army and was stationed in Japan until being honorably discharged as a Morse Code Interpreter with the Army Security Agency earning the Korean Service Ribbon, United Nations Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal. He gave his life to the Lord and was baptized in 1975 at South Roebuck Baptist Church.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Billie Wright; brother, Tommy M. Knowles and his son Michael Knowles.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Peggy Jo Knowles; sons, Tommy Knowles (Debby) and Kerry Knowles; daughter, Kelley Akins (Marshall); his grandson, Taylor Akins and granddaughter, Alyssa Stewart (Hunter); his sister, Patsy Morgan, and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.

The family will host a celebration of life service announced at a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers please send donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in memory of Jimmy H. Knowles.

The family will celebrate the life of Jimmy Knowles with a celebration of life service held on Sunday, October 22nd at Ridout's Trussville Chapel. Friends and family will gather an hour prior to the service.
