Jeanette T. Gamble

Jeannette Taccia Gamble, 87, of Birmingham, Alabama passed away on July 12, 2023. She was born on November 27, 1935 in New York State to Fred and Anna Taccia, who preceded her in death. Jeannette leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Don R. Waters (Lisa) and William H. Waters (Isabelle); 1 grandchild; 7 great-grandchildren; siblings, Emily, Louise, Bobby, and Carol; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jeannette was born in the era when kindness was the norm and not the exception; and she showed it every day of her life. She loved making arts and crafts (drawing, carving, sewing, writing poetry), and her great pleasure was to share them with others. Giving her treasures to those she loved brought her great joy.

Jeannette was known for sewing dolls and had a large collection of them, even making them a dollhouse.

She had a gentle and kind soul, if she knew there was a need; she tried to help meet it. If someone was hungry, she fed them. If they were down, she did her best to bring them up with kindness and encouragement. She always tried to cheer people up. She loved to spend time with family and friends at the beach and the lake when her children were younger. She will truly be missed.

A visitation will be on Monday, July 24, 2023 from 10 am until 11 am at Johns Ridout’s Funeral Parlors at Southside. A celebration of her life will follow at 11 am. She will be laid to rest at Forest Hill Cemetery.
