Jean Clark Marshall

Jean Clark Marshall, surrounded by her loving family, died peacefully June 2, 2023 at 91 years of age. Born Oct 16, 1931, she was the only child of Judge Leigh M. Clark and Evelyn Staggers Clark who preceded her in death. After graduating from Ensley High School in 1949, she attended the University of Montevallo and Birmingham Southern College, from which she graduated in 1954. She was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She received a Master’s degree from Peabody College. She taught primary grades in the Birmingham School System and then Mountain Brook School System at Brookwood Forest Elementary until her retirement in 1989. After retirement, she served as the Educational Director for the Greater Birmingham Humane Society. She was a member of West End Church of Christ, a charter member of Palisades Church of Christ and most recently a member of Riverchase Church of Christ. She was a member of the Churchill International Society, Birmingham-Jefferson Historical Society, a member of the DAR, The Club, and a life member of the Birmingham Humane Society. She was also a member of the Birmingham Museum of Art. She was an avid Auburn fan and animal lover.

She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Frank Clifton Marshall, Jr.; son, Leigh Clark Marshall (Robin) of Hoover; daughters, Katherine Marshall Dyer (Paul) of Vestavia Hills and Molly Marshall Giddens (John) of Hoover; grandchildren, William Clark Ledbetter, Robert Paul Dyer, Jr. (Rebecca), Madeline Elizabeth Ledbetter, Virginia Evelyn Dyer, Samuel Leigh Ledbetter, and Lt. Marshall Riggan Dyer (Ivey).
