WHITMAN, JANIE SUE ALDRIDGE, age 71 of Hoover, AL passed away May 5, 2012 after a long illness. She attended Woodlawn High School and was retired from Southtrust Bank (Wachovia) after 29 years service. She was a member of Huffman United Methodist Church, and it’s Loyalty Sunday School Class for 30 years. She loved sports, especially Alabama Football and was an avid gardener and bird lover. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Cynthia Jane (Odom) Aldridge; brother, Ronald L. Aldridge; and special nephew, “Little Joe” Myers. She is survived by her loving and supportive husband of 55 years, James H. Whitman; her most beloved children, that made her so proud, Steven K. Whitman (Cheril) of Atlanta, GA, Michele Whitman Lacey (Bill) of Dallas, TX, and Stephanie Whitman Bowers (David) of Hoover, AL; her grandchildren, which was her pride and joy, Morgan W. Lacey and Mallory E. Lacey of Dallas, TX, Dallas Whitman and Karsyn Whitman of Atlanta, GA, Bentley Bowers, Bailey Bowers and Brody Bowers of Hoover, AL; 2 special sisters and brothers in laws, Dorothy J. Myers (Albert) and Sherry K. Howell (Don); sister in law, Billie R. Childers; and many nieces and nephews. We would like to thank Dr. Ruth Atkinson and staff of Birmingham Hematology/Oncology and the doctors and staff from M. D. Anderson for their care. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel from 5-7 PM. Her service will be at the chapel on Thursday, May 10, 2012 beginning at 11 AM. Donations may be made to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society and Huffman United Methodist Church Loyalty Class.
