James M (Jimmy Mac) Weldon

James M (Jimmy Mac) Weldon, age 87, of Trussville, Alabama passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2023. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dean Couey Weldon and his grandson, Michael James Weldon. Jimmy is survived by his children; Karen Weldon of Trussville, AL, James M Weldon Jr. of Frisco, TX and Kelley Holland of Trussville, AL. Jimmy is also survived by his 4 grandchildren; Jonathan Weldon, Holley House-Thompson, Freeman Voyles, Jackson Holland, and his sister, Emily Thompson of Atlanta, Ga.

Born and raised in Wetumpka, Alabama he subsequently graduated from Auburn University in 1958. At Auburn he served in the ROTC and later in the US Army. After graduating from Auburn in accounting, Jimmy had a long career at Alabama Power Company where he retired. As an ardent Auburn fan, Jimmy could often be found listening to games on the radio while hunting and fishing in Wetumpka. Wetumpka was home to Jimmy.

The family would like to express their gratitude for all the caregivers at Legacy Ridge over the past 3 years, his private caregivers and Compassus Hospice that supported him and his family in his last few days. Jimmy passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family.

A graveside service for Jimmy will be Saturday, July 8, 2023 beginning at 10:00 AM at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville.
