James Forrest Lacey (Jim), 83, of Birmingham, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016 unexpectedly of natural causes. He was preceded in death by his parents Forrest Edward Lacey and Ethyl May Nelson Lacey. He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Billie Ann Chappell Lacey and son William Forrest Lacey (Bill) and his wife Michele Whitman Lacey of Southlake Texas; his beloved grandchildren Morgan Whitney Lacey of New York City and Mallory Elizabeth Lacey Savage and her husband James Savage of Atlanta, his brother Edward Nelson Lacey of Mississippi and sister Margret Ann Lacey Menees of Florida and many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family. Jim was a native of Birmingham and a 1952 graduate of Woodlawn High School. After high school he attended Auburn University and served in the United States Army as a tank commander in the 710th Tank Battalion. After the Army, Jim had a successful career with Union Oil Company as an engineer in the Construction and Marketing Divisions. He retired after 40 years of service. Jim was a long time member of Grayson Valley Country Club and Huffman United Methodist Church. He loved playing golf and woodworking and spending time with his wife and family.
Visitation will be Friday, July 15, at Ridout's Trussville Chapel from 5:30 -8:00 p.m. and the funeral will be Saturday July 16 at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel at 11:00 a.m followed by a grave side service at Forrest Hills Cemetery.
