James R. (Jamie) Griffin, of Birmingham, passed away on September 8, 2017 at the age of 87. Jamie was born on July 20, 1930 to Thomas and Rachael Elliott Griffin. After graduating from Jones Valley High School in 1948, Jamie joined the Army served his country in Korea during the war. He graduated from Samford University and was a member of Powderly Baptist Church. After he retired in 1986 from Southern Natural Gas Company, Jamie enjoyed traveling all over the U.S. Left to cherish his memory is his only brother, Thomas J. Griffin. Visitation for Jamie will be Tuesday, September 12, 2017 from 5-7 pm at Elmwood Chapel Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 10:15 am on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Alabama National Cemetery.
