The family celebrates her ascension to join her Lord and beloved husband, Roland, Thursday, June 17, 2021. She was born on September 24, 1926, and attended West End High School in Birmingham, AL.
Helen resided and enjoyed her beautiful home at 137 Brook Highland Cove. She is remembered by her family as “Grandmother, Mother and Mama” the joyous matriarch of her Landrum family of 4 children, 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
A lifetime of various achievements would be easier listed, but Helen will be remembered for her lifetime of family relationships. When asked of her career achievements, as there were so many, she said, “As I look back on my many varied walks of life, I can truly say that nothing compares with my experience in raising my children and helping with the grandchildren. I found out that being a mother was just about the nicest job anyone could have in the whole world. I loved it.” Her children and grandchildren all agree that she was exemplary in every category and cherish her memory, her example and her spiritual legacy.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Roland Landrum in 1997. The family rejoices in them being together again. She was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Huffman for 34 years and was a gifted Bible study leader. Sharing her gift brought abundant joy to herself and others. Faith in her Lord and savior Jesus Christ gave her continuous peace, hope and comfort. Later she became a member at the Church at Brook Hills after moving to be closer to her daughter.
She is survived by son, James R. Landrum (Ilene) of Cropwell, AL; daughter, Jeanne D. Garrison (Aubrey) of Hoover, AL, son, John M. Landrum (Janet) of Moody, AL and son, Jody S. Landrum (Rose) of Isabella, AL; grandchildren, Jennifer Wilkes (Matt), Beau Landrum (Delilah), Ashley Dickerson (Shane), Emily Feller (Jason), Colby Landrum (Ian), Daniel DeLoach (Kimberly), Erin Koons (Matt), Mandi King (Anthony), Raelynn Davis (Skylar), Abbie Neal, Alyssa Neal, Olivia Landrum, Joanna Landrum, Victoria Landrum.
