Evelyn Roach

Mary Evelyn Sims Roach, born September 26, 1935, entered the gates of heaven on December 20, 2022. She was surrounded by all of her family in a room filled with an overflow of peace, gratitude, and love. Evelyn was a long time employee of General Motors as a secretary from 1953 until her retirement in 1986. She spent the rest of her time gardening, taking road trips, and tracing the genealogy of all branches of her family. She was a beloved member of Concord United Methodist Church of Talladega where she expertly played the organ every Sunday until the week before her passing. She is preceded in death by her parents Hugh and Mittie Sims, sisters Carolyn Sims Ashley and Linda Sims Reid Stein, as well as her husband of 59 years Charles Delmar Roach. She is survived by her sons Ricky (Kathy) Roach, Randy Roach and Kirk Roach; her sister Reba (Gene) Blackerby; her grandchildren Amy Davis, Christy (Michael) Peters, Brittany (Adam) Skinner, and David (Krista) Roach. She also leaves behind all her precious great grandchildren, Emma Brooke, Olivia, Ashlynn, Caleb, Ruby Tay and Violet. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 from 1:00pm - 2:00pm at Ridout's Trussville Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 2:00pm. Graveside will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Birmingham. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Concord United Methodist Church at 85 Concord Church Rd, Talladega, AL 35160.
