Eunice Key Davis, age 99, passed away May 7, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Chester Dee Davis; their daughters, Marilyn Kay Davis Heyder and Robin Davis Porter; parents, Walter L. and Lois Myers Key. She is survived by her granddaughter, Angie Lofgreen, her husband, Daniel Lofgreen, and her children, Heidi Lauren Lofgreen Hill (children, Balin Thomas Hill, Mila Ann Hill, and Emmett Marcus Hill); Joshua Blake Lofgreen; (Ren) Jessica La’chelle Lofgreen and her husband, Robert McCurdy (children, Taliesin McCurdy, Aidan McCurdy, and Alicezandra McCurdy); Zachary Tyler Lofgreen (children, Allys Lila Lofgreen and Gryffyn Tyler Lofgreen); Olivia Grace Lofgreen; and Sarah Danielle Lofgreen; Children of Robin Davis Porter: Jayson Wayne Porter, Sr. and his wife, Shannon Porter; and their children, Gabriel Stephen Porter, Hollee Adrian Porter, Arabella Rain Porter, Roland Alan Porter; and Jayson Wayne Porter, Jr.; Ashley Nicole Driggers (daughter, Samantha Michelle Tucker and husband, Garrett Tucker); and niece, Brenda Sue Davis Morrison and husband, David (children, Scott Morrison and wife, Rose; and Lee Morrison and wife, Lori).
Mrs. Davis was born at Coal Valley, Alabama and began her education there. She also attended Corona School, Oakman High School, and Jeff State College in Birmingham. She continued learning all of her life. She always had a suitcase packed to go sit beside those in need. Mrs. Davis was a member of Huffman Church of Christ. She and Chester belonged to Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars Fleet Reserve Auxiliary.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 9am until 10am at Johns Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel Funeral Home in the Celebration Chapel. A celebration of Mrs. Davis’ life will follow at 10am. Mrs. Davis will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Chester in Birmingham’s historic Elmwood Cemetery in block 25.
