Ellen Y. Kassis

Kassis, Ellen Yousef, age 90, of Birmingham, died August 12, 2013. She was born February 13, 1923 in Ramallah, Palestine. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Joseph Kassis; and her brother, Issa Harb. She is survived by her children, Nadia Ideh (Gabi), Michael Kassis (Hala), Janet Shunnarah (Jimile), Nick Kassis (Carolyn), Sylvia Ideh (George) and Sue Moreno (Robert); 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; brother, George Harb (Wadad) and sister-in-law, Mary Harb.

Ellen lived a beautiful life always surrounded by her loving family. She loved those she knew unconditionally and those she just met generously. She loved her church, St. George Melkite Greek Catholic Church, and her church family. She was happiest when others were happy and around her.

The Trisagion will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 from 4:00 until 6:00 PM at St. George Melkite Greek Catholic Church. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the church, with burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Donations to St. George Melkite Greek Catholic Church will be accepted in her memory.
