

Edward Jackson was born in Uniontown, Alabama on September 7, 1935 to Anderson Jackson, Sr. and Eliza Pearson Jackson. His family relocated to Birmingham, Alabama where he received his education in the Birmingham Public School System. He, along with his family attended Bethel Baptist Church Southside, where he accepted Christ at an early age. Edward was employed at St. Vincent’s Hospital. He married and that union gave him three sons, Edward, David and Kenneth Jackson; granddaughter, Davida Jackson Petty; great-granddaughter, Sanaa Petty.
Edward later relocated to Cleveland, Ohio where he worked at the steel foundry. He married De Lorise Todd in 1987. They had no children together, but he did gain step-children when they married, Cynthia, Alonzo, and Kepha Todd. At the request of his mother and due to her health, the family relocated back to Birmingham to care for her. He went back to work for St. Vincent’s Hospital and retired there.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anderson Jackson, Sr. and Eliza Pearson Jackson and his brother, Anderson Jackson, Jr. He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his wife, DeLorise; children, Edward, David, and Kenneth; a granddaughter; a great-granddaughter; step-children, Cynthia, Alonzo, and Kepha; and a host of relatives and friends.
Edward faithfully attended Sixth Avenue Baptist Church and joined under the pastorship of Dr. John T. Porter.
Edward’s viewing will be on Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 10 am until 11 am at Sixth Avenue Baptist Church. A celebration of his life will follow at 11 am. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery.
